Ryan Robinson plays Dances by John Stevens

3/04/21

Ryan Robinson, SoNA's Principal Tubist, performs all four parts of "Dances" by John Stevens. The piece was composed in 1975 for solo tuba (or euphonium) and three tubas and premiered by the composer himself at Yale. Over the years, the piece has become a favorite in chamber music repertoire for the tuba due to its ability to showcase the possibilities of the instrument, its lyricism, and its accessible rhythmic energy.
