SoNA performs "Fanfare for the Common Man" by Aaron Copland

Hello friends,

As a celebration of our right to vote, today we are proudly releasing our performance of Fanfare for the Common Man. We came together virtually to play this iconic, patriotic piece by Aaron Copland and invited SoNA friends and family to make a digital cameo! Members of our community sent us selfies showing their commitment to voting, and we included them in our video performance.

We are celebrating them, the voters who are fulfilling their civic duty by participating in democracy. We are also dedicating this performance to all the poll workers who are on the front lines working to ensure that the election runs smoothly –– to the first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe and healthy during difficult circumstances –– to all the men and women who fought and continue to fight to protect our right to vote –– and to the rich tapestry of everyday people who make America such a beautiful place to live.

Many thanks to all our musicians who came together to record this piece, demonstrating their flexibility and resiliency during challenging times. We’ll have more digital concerts, live-streams, and more so please stay tuned –– many more creative musical experiences to come through our Reimagined Season!

Sincerely,

D. Riley Nicholson
Executive Director

P.S. If you haven’t voted yet, find your polling place by heading over to vote.org; make a plan to vote today!
